1. Who We Are
Nimai is a scripture reading app developed by Ninad Kale. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at vishakha.d933@gmail.com.
2. Information We Collect
a) Device Identifier
When you open Nimai for the first time, a unique anonymous device ID is generated. This allows the app to save your reading progress and preferences without requiring you to create an account. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any personally identifiable information.
b) Account Information (Optional)
If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. Account creation is optional. You can use all core features of Nimai without signing in.
c) Reading Progress and Preferences
We store which verse you last read in each scripture and your in-app preferences (such as your chosen language and reader settings). This data is stored on our servers so your progress is preserved across sessions.
d) AI Chat Messages
When you use the AI Sanskrit Scholar chat feature, your messages and the Sanskrit verse context are sent to our backend server, which then forwards them to OpenAI's API to generate a response. These messages are not permanently stored by us after the response is returned. Please refer to OpenAI's Privacy Policy for how they handle data.
e) Audio Playback
Nimai plays pre-recorded audio files for verse recitation. We do not record or access your microphone at any time.
3. How We Use Your Information

4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely on servers hosted on Google Cloud (Asia region) and Supabase. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in this policy.
5. Third-Party Services
Nimai uses the following third-party services:

6. Children's Privacy
Nimai is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Data Retention
We retain your reading progress and preferences for as long as you use the app. If you delete the app or request deletion of your data, we will remove your information from our servers within 30 days. To request data deletion, email us at vishakha.d933@gmail.com.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Opt out of account creation entirely and use the app anonymously
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at vishakha.d933@gmail.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
